spain
I just got the scanner up and running after a year without it and used these pics from a family holiday in Spain to test it out.
In these pictures we are hanging out with our Mum and Dad in Nerja. It was a small town in those olden days and we spent our days on the beach paddling about and leaving messages on the sand with the smooth white pebbles while our dad made us a bamboo hut to shade us from the sun. There was a river behind our apartment and sometimes we got to explore along the dried up riverbed and watch the farmers taking donkeys laden with sugar cane to market. We spent afternoons on the Balcón de Europa eating teeny, tiny ice creams for una peseta or drinking La Casera. Once I watched a bit of a bull fight on t.v. in the bar but my dad made me leave before the gross bit.
Julie had her birthday here. You can see her at her party on the bottom right. We both got donkeys. Hers was grey a straw hat. Later Grandad gave her a cart to go with the donkey. Mine was white and the most beautiful donkey ever. The big rose was given to Julie by the owner of Pepe Rico (the restaurant - which seems to be there still).
Our other favourite restaurant was El Molina (a good place for a gaggle of Mollinses to hang out) which also seems to be still in operation.

this dock is awesomesauce
This is what the storm wreaked in Ottawa but we are still standing. On the dock! DockMan FTW!
wild skies
We were sitting on the dock enjoying a pre-dinner cocktail. Suddenly, at the north end of the lake we saw a sheet of rain rushing towards us. Then this happened.
heat wave
During the July heatwave my friends invited me to the cottage. Here it is:
And here is the view:

This canoe spent the winter in my parent's backyard.
Doesn't it look happy to be back in its natural habitat?

My friend was busy. He put in the dock.

I have no pictures of him weed whacking but here he is rescuing a badminton shuttlecock from the roof.

And he kept his finger on the pulse old school.
Until this happened.

geneva
Telling Tales and I decided to leave Londontown and visit our friend Michelle in Geneve.
Geneva is a lovely city. The buses and LRT are beautiful. You want to stay on them forever. Are you listening TTC?
We stopped by a corner store on our way to the apartment to grab some supplies - wine and crackers and cheese. In Switzerland even corner store cheese is delicious. In fact we liked the corner store best of all but more about that later.
Here are some of the things we saw on our first day. We strolled around the old city, learned a few things about Calvin, tried not to spend all of our holiday finds on one lunch and wandered around the lake before meeting up with Michelle. Isn't it pretty?

A perfect day trip to Brighton with Michelle.
The lanes, the Royal Pavillion, the beach and the pier. Plus beverages.

greenwich
I went to Greenwich for the RaPAL conference. Telling Tales came out with me on the boat and we had a wander and a snack.

One of the workshops I attended was called "To the meridian." We went out with cameras and took pictures of signs around Greenwich. We had a funny encounter with a restaurant worker who was watching us quizzically while we photographed the wheelie bin he was dumping garbage into. We explained what we were doing and he laughed and said, "I thought you were the weirdest tourists ever."
Here is some of the stuff I saw in Greeenwich this time.
Telling Tales came back when the conference was over and we went to the craft market and did our bit for the economy and had another snack :)

(What I saw on last year's trip to Greenwich is here, and here, and here.)
